India posted the second-highest score in men’s T20I history against Bangladesh in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad. After choosing to bat, Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 40-ball century, the second-fastest by an Indian in men’s T20Is.

He was well-supported by middle-order powerhouses, with captain Suryakumar Yadav (75 off 35), Riyan Parag (34 off 13), and Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) all making valuable contributions to the imposing total.

India’s total of 297/6 is the highest ever by a full-member team in T20I history. The previous record was held by Afghanistan, who scored 278/3 against Ireland in 2019. India’s previous best was 260/5, set against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Interestingly, this match also featured Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking 35-ball century, the fastest by an Indian in T20Is.

Sanju Samson’s 40-ball hundred now ranks just behind it, as the wicketkeeper-batter lit up Hyderabad with a stunning display, hitting 11 fours and eight sixes. Remarkably, five of those sixes came in a single over bowled by spinner Rishad Hossain.

Samson’s innings marks the first time a designated Indian wicketkeeper has scored a century in men’s T20Is.
