New Delhi: In a significant step toward digital empowerment, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the highly anticipated New Aadhaar app on Tuesday, aiming to enhance accessibility and security for Indian citizens. The app, developed in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), integrates advanced Face ID authentication and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to streamline identity verification.
Key Features of the New Aadhaar App
- Face ID Authentication – Users can verify their identity in real-time using facial recognition, eliminating the need for physical documents.
- QR Code-Based Verification – Instant authentication via QR codes makes the process as seamless as a UPI payment.
- Secure & Consent-Based Sharing – Individuals can share only necessary details, ensuring full control over personal data.
- 100% Digital & Paperless – No more carrying physical Aadhaar cards or photocopies for verification.
How Will the Aadhaar App Benefit Users?
With the new app, Indians no longer need to carry or share physical Aadhaar copies during hotel check-ins, travel, or shopping. Instead, a quick QR scan followed by Face ID verification will instantly confirm their identity.
Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the app’s security, stating, “No need to hand over Aadhaar photocopies at hotels, shops, or while traveling. The Aadhaar app is secure and shareable only with the user’s consent—100% digital and foolproof.”
Aadhaar Verification as Easy as UPI Payments
Similar to how UPI QR codes are widely used for payments, Aadhaar QR codes will soon be available at various authentication points. Users simply need to:
- Scan the QR code using the Aadhaar app.
- Verify via Face ID for instant authentication.
- Securely share details directly from their phone—no photocopies required.
The app, currently in its Beta testing phase, will soon be rolled out nationwide, marking a major leap toward a digitally secure India.
This innovation promises to reduce identity fraud, enhance convenience, and ensure privacy-first verification for millions of citizens. Stay tuned for the official nationwide launch!
