Delhi Assembly Elections: Voting Underway Across 70 Constituencies

Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections is currently in progress across all 70 constituencies. Polling commenced at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM, with stringent security measures in place to ensure a smooth and fair electoral process. Over 1.56 crore eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots to decide the fate of 699 candidates contesting in this crucial election.
Key candidates in the fray include Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded leaders such as Vijender Gupta, Pravesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri, and Kailash Gahlot, while the Congress party has nominated Sandeep Dikshit, Haroon Yusuf, and Alka Lamba.
To facilitate free, fair, and peaceful polling, elaborate arrangements have been made across the national capital. A total of 13,700 polling booths have been set up, with 70 stations exclusively managed by women and another 70 by divyangjans (persons with disabilities). The Election Commission has deployed over 1.8 lakh polling personnel to oversee the electoral process. Assured minimum facilities, including ramps, wheelchairs, medical teams, and creche services, have been arranged at polling centers to ensure voter convenience.
Among the 1.56 crore eligible voters, more than 83 lakh are male, around 72 lakh are female, and 1,267 belong to the third gender. Additionally, 783 voters aged above 100 years are expected to participate in the electoral process.
As the polling progresses, all eyes remain on voter turnout and the potential outcome of this high-stakes election in the national capital.
