“On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the President of India has given a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as Amrit Udyan,” Deputy Press Secretary to the President Navika Gupta said.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan contains three gardens styled by Mughal and Persian gardens. The public and government began dubbing “Mughal Gardens” the garden inspired by the same-named garden in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. However, the gardens were never formally known as “Mughal Gardens.” The 15-acre Amrit Udyan has frequently been described as the heart of the presidential palace.
