Sensex News: Sensex Jumps 494 Points To Settle At New Closing Peak Of 74,742.50
Sensex News: Benchmark indices ended at their fresh closing highs on Monday (8th April 2024) amid positive global cues and buying action in IT and auto names.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 494 points or 0.67 percent to settle at a new closing peak of 74,742.50. During the day, it zoomed 621 points or 0.83 percent to reach a record intra-day high of 74,869.
The NSE Nifty climbed 153 points or 0.68 per cent to 22,666. During the day, it jumped 184 points or 0.81 percent to hit a lifetime high of 22,697.

Among the Sensex constituents, Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, JSW Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, and Power Grid were the major gainers.
On the other hand, Nestle, Wipro, Sun Pharma, and HCL Technologies were the laggards.
In the broader market at the BSE, Midcap index gained 0.26 percent and smallcap index fell 0.06 percent.
In sectoral indices at the BSE, Auto sector rose 1.65 percent, Oil and Gas index jumped 1.50 percent, and Realty sector soared 1.20 percent. In contrast, IT index declined 0.55 percent and Teck sector fell 0.10 percent.
